White Roof Project is an intrepid group of grassroots activists that paints roofs with 90% solar-reflective white coating to help curb climate change, reduce energy consumption and costs (by up to 30%), and promote volunteerism. A White Roof Project is low cost, easy to implement, effective, and engages large organizations in meaningful service projects.
The statistics are as simple as they are staggering: if we were to coat 5 percent of rooftops per year worldwide, we would save us 24 billion metric tons in CO2 by 2030. This is the equivalent of turning the world off for an entire year — while saving some money on energy bills.
That’s simple tangible change.
